I hear many people say they need more time.
More hours in the day.
More space to think.
More freedom to focus.
I used to think the same.
It felt like there was never enough time to do everything I wanted to do.
Too many ideas, too many things to manage, too many directions pulling at once.
But over time, I realized something. Time wasn’t the problem.
Direction was.
When you don’t know exactly where you’re going, everything feels slower than it should.
You start something, then question it.
You make progress, then second-guess it.
You move forward, then stop and rethink everything.
It’s not a lack of discipline. But a lack clarity. And without clarity, even simple decisions become heavy.
But when direction becomes clear, something instantly changes.
You don’t feel the need to do everything anymore.
You stop spreading your energy across too many things.
You begin to focus.
Decisions become easier.
Effort becomes more intentional.
Progress becomes more visible.
Not because you suddenly have more time. Because you’re finally using it with purpose.
There was a moment when I stopped asking,
“How can I fit more into my day?”
And started asking,
“What actually matters right now?”
That question changed everything for me.
I became more selective.
More focused.
More consistent.
Not perfectly, but enough to move forward without constantly restarting.
Direction doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be chosen.
You can adjust it.
Refine it.
Improve it over time.
But without choosing a direction, nothing compounds.
You stay busy. But you don’t move.
Time passes. But progress doesn’t.
And that’s the difference most people feel, even if they can’t explain it.
It’s not a lack of effort. It’s a lack of direction.
Ask yourself:
Where am I busy but not moving forward?
What would I focus on if I removed everything non-essential?
What direction am I avoiding deciding?
